Other Causes

1. Hyperprolactinemia

is found in up to one-third of patients with absence of menstruation and in up to 90 percent of women. It is a condition in which excess prolactin circulates in the bloodstream of non pregnant women and can cause reproductive dysfunctions including inadequate progesterone production during the luteal phase after ovulation, irregular ovulation and menstruation, absence of menstruation, and galactorrhea (breast milk production by a woman who is not nursing).

2. Diabetes

is associated with accelerated aging may contribute to premature ovarian failure. It is also thought that early menopause is a previously unknown complication of diabetes, rather than a result of existing diabetic complications.

3. Thyroid Disease

can cause a woman to have antithyroid antibodies which disrupts the hormonal balance and can lead to hypothyroidism, recurrent miscarriage, infertility, intrauterine growth retardation, complications of late pregnancy, and IVF failure. A woman does not have to have the signs of thyroid deficiency to have the antithyroid antibodies present.

4. Lupus

(Systemic Lupus Erythematosus), can affect fertility in many ways.

5. Cancer

can affect fertility in many ways.
