Stress and Fertility

What is the impact of stress on fertility?

Research shows that chronic or prolonged stress may have many negative effects on fertility.
The most common symptoms are:
  • Decreased or absent ovulation
  • Lowered progesterone levels
  • Increased Cortisol levels which can inhibit implantation
  • Increased prolactin levels which interfere with ovulation.
  • Increased PMS symptoms
  • Decreased immune function

How does Chinese medicine treat stress?

TCM has recognized for thousands of years that stress has an effect on health and reproduction. By using acupuncture, herbs, diet and nutrition, and Reproductive Organ Massage, we are able to:

  • Rebalance the sympathetic nervous system
  • Improve sleep
  • Regulate menstrual cycles
  • Improve immune system functions
  • Rebalance the endocrine system
  • Lessen symptoms of PMS
Chinese medicine realizes that a program for stress management should also include: tai chi, yoga, meditation, and exercise.
